Buhari inaugurates housing scheme for civil servants

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday in Abuja formally inaugurated a comprehensive housing scheme for federal workers, declaring that it would afford workers the leverage to optimise their service output.
He said the government would be targeting about 5000 housing units in all the states within three years.
Speaking at the Ground Breaking Ceremony at the Apo District Abuja, the President, represented by the Minister of State for Power, Works and Housing, Mustapha Baba Shehu said, the housing scheme tagged, “Federal Civil Servants Housing Scheme, was an initiative of the Office of the Head of Head Civil Service of the Federation.
“I therefore urge the workers to re-dedicate themselves to service and contribute to good governance. This government is committed to workers welfare”, Buhari stated.
Chairman of the occasion and President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, represented by its Executive Director, Mansur Ahmed, said the government and the organised private sector must “continue to collaborate not only to build structure, but to also build other national values and maintain existing structures to stimulate national development.”
According to him, civil servants remained the mother of all institutions, adding that if the civil service works, other institutions would also work well.
Dangote also expressed optimism that Nigerian economy would soon pick up and continue to grow.
The business mogul said that the presence of all the federal permanent secretaries at the event was an indication that FISH would fully achieve its aim.
